Tree Ring's Song

My song entry for The Music Composer Jam #1, by Plasmator Games.

It's a peaceful, uplifting peace that could easily be OST for a 2D platformer fantasy adventure game.

With this song, I wanted to capture the majesty and beauty of the forest, especially the trees. I imagined running my fingers along a tree's rings, listening to its history.

I made it entirely in LMMS (a Freeware DAW) with inexpensive Plugins and Samples.   

I started with some forest ambience, then I found a good drum loop for the base.  I found a funky synth pad which completely changed the direction of the track, then I composed a sub-bass line and some percussion.  I then added a synth drone and chords before I composed the string section (my favourite part).  After that, I added more synths for melody, a flute and finally layered the drums.
